The Chainsmokers And Tritonal Team Up On Until You Were Gone

June 2024 · 1 minute read

It’s been a transformative season for The Chainsmokers, as the NYC-based DJ/producer duo has succeeded in redefining themselves in the wake of their “#SELFIE”-indued infamy. 2015 has also seen them collaborate with the likes of Tiësto and Jenaux, and with their latest release, they now get to add Tritonal to the list.

“Until You Were Gone” lives up to The Chainsmokers’ recent repertoire of saccharine love songs, but with Tritonal’s distinctly trancey touch. Emily Warren’s pop-y vocals are counterbalanced by an invigorating complextro drop that sounds quite a bit like something Zedd would produce, making for a infectiously catchy arrangement.

While “Until You Were Gone” is certainly an EDM anthem fit for the main stage, it ends up sounding a bit too generic to stand out in either outfit’s discography. When two groups manage to wow their audience consistently, the downside is that they set a pretty high bar for themselves – but as an artist, I suppose that’s the kind of problem you want to have.
