There are many characters to keep track of in '13 Reasons Why.' Here's everything you need to know about what happened to Devin Druid's Tyler Down.

Season 3 of 13 Reasons Why has added even more characters to the already wide mix of Liberty High students. And while the third season of this problematic teen series centers on the death of Bryce Walker, we could all stand to sit through a bit of a refresh when it comes to some of the other protagonists.

So, what happened to Tyler Down after he got back from his behavioral rehab? And what does he do in Season 3? If you haven't yet binged Season 3, or want to fill in some blanks, keep reading for everything we know.

What happened to Tyler Down in 13 Reasons Why?

Tyler plays something of a key role in Season 2 of the show. We first met him in the debut season as a recipient of Hannah's Tape 2, Side B, which he receives for sneakily taking creepy pictures of Hannah and ruining her friendship with Courtney.

Anyway, Tyler — who's played by Devin Druid — is pretty much a young incel (sorry, not super sorry) who forges a friendship with outcast Cyrus, the lanky, edgy dude who wears leather jackets, heavy eyeliner, and gauges in his ears, in Season 2. 

Together, these weirdos decide to seek "revenge" on the football-loving bullies of Liberty High by vandalizing the football field and some of the team members' cars, which does eventually get them punished. Tyler is sent away to a behavioral rehab program for a month to work on his anger issues, but *surprise* comes back with a vengeance.

After his return from the diversion program, Tyler seems to be doing better, but not really for long. Because there's a whole investigation and lawsuit that Hannah's family is holding against Liberty High, in addition to the recent gym vandalism, the school decides to suspend the entire sports program.

Naturally, the aforementioned jock-bullies hold Tyler responsible for their new lack of sports, which leads Monty to perform one of the most graphic scenes this show — which, need we remind, depicts a literal suicide in Season 1 — has ever seen. 

Trigger warning: He sodomizes Tyler with a mop handle in the school bathroom. These seventeen-year-olds, man. 

Well, it's not exactly surprising that being raped becomes the last straw for Tyler, who then decides to shoot up the school on the night of the Liberty High Spring Fling. Luckily, he texts Cyrus's sister and ex-girlfriend Mackenzie, who help Clay and his gang come up with a plan to intercept him.

In Season 3, we see a new side of Tyler and watch him mature.

While it's fair to say that Seasons 1 and 2 didn't exactly paint Tyler in the most attractive or flattering light, we see him come into his own in Season 3. He starts documenting his recovery from his sexual trauma and we eventually watch him put his photography up for a show at an art gallery.

And while there's a brief moment in Season 3 where Tony and Clay think Tyler might have killed Bryce (because he kept one of the guns from Season 2's finale), it ends up not being him. That said, he's not totally in the clear — and although his mindset is on the up and up, we hope the police never link him to his guns, which his friends tossed in the river after Spring Fling.
