She told that Chauvin had served there for 17 years, while the late Floyd had worked there at about a dozen events. She stated that it was not clear if the pair knew each other but that she didn’t believe so.

Maya also spoke on Chauvin sometimes using overaggressive tactics when dealing with clients of color, he responded to fights by spraying the crowd with mace, an approach she told him was “overkill”.

Thomas K. Lane was born in 1983 (age 37 as of 2020), and J. Alexander Kueng born in 1994 (age 26 as of 2020), were both licensed as law enforcement officers in August 2019. Neither had prior complaints against them on their records.

The names of officers who killed George Floyd have been identified as Derek Chauvin, Tou Thao, Thomas Lane, and J. Alexander Kueng, they are the Minneapolis police officers who lost their jobs in connection with the George Floyd death incident, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

Floyd lost his life in police custody after the Minneapolis Police Department reported him as suffering “medical distress.” Nevertheless, the arrest was caught in a viral and very disturbing video that saw Floyd lying prone and handcuffed on the ground as a police officer identified as Chauvin kneeled on his neck for more than seven minutes.

The criminal complaint against Chauvin says that Floyd’s autopsy revealed “no physical findings that support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation. Mr. Floyd had underlying health conditions including coronary artery disease and hypertensive heart disease. The combined effects of Mr. Floyd being restrained by the police, his underlying health conditions and any potential intoxicants in his system likely contributed to his death.” Chauvin “had his knee on Mr. Floyd’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in total. Two minutes and 53 seconds of this was after Mr. Floyd was non-responsive. Police are trained that this type of restraint with a prone position is inherently dangerous,” the complaint states.

It also maintains that Chauvin dismissed another officer, Thomas Lane, who suggested, “should we roll him on his side?” Chauvin allegedly returned, “No, staying put where we got him,” the complaint asserts.
